Thanks to all those who joined us 25 May 2001 for the Grand
Opening of Deterrent Park. What a grand day in history, as we also had the honor of congratulating USS Florida on completing the 3500th Strategic Submarine Deterrent Patrol.
The newly painted sail, with periscopes, and rudder are in place, ceremonial area are complete, the majority of the park has been
professionally landscaped, and the simulated hull is cast in concrete. Bricks have been engraved and set in the “missile deck” area of the simulated hull awaiting all onlookers.

Your greatly appreciated purchases of the engraved bricks are helped us to raise the funds
necessary to complete the park. Although completion of the hull is complete, we have approximately 4000 bricks still available to be engraved. The bricks are the real “heart” of the
Memorial as they personalize the sacrifices of all that have served and supported. Please help us spread the word by passing on the information of this important submarine project to friends of the submarine force.
Larger individual and corporate donations are also welcomed to fund ongoing projects and
park maintenance and receive recognition at the park commensurate with the level of the gift. Please contact us and we would be happy to provide more information and coordinate on a personal basis for these donations.
